  • 3 strawberries, hulled
  • 3-4 basil leaves or mint or thyme
  • 2 ounces bourbon or whiskey
  • 1/2 ounce lemon juice (a generous squeeze)
  • 2 ounce s ginger beer


  • In a cocktail shaker, muddle the strawberries and basil. Use a wood muddler or the end of a wooden spoon to mash everything well. Add the bourbon and lemon juice, secure the lid and shake very well.
  • Strain the contents of the cocktail shaker into an ice-filled cocktail glass. Top with ginger beer and garnish with a strawberry slice.
