That means we made it through another week of work deadlines, carpool lines, errands, workouts, sports practices and homework. That’s right, it’s time to treat yourself! Today is the kick-off of an exciting new endeavor for Smart In The Kitchen. And lucky for you, it happens to involve something crisp and refreshing to sip.
I think you all deserve a treat. So at the end of the week, I’ll post a Fri-YAY wine pick. The wines will all be $25 or less. Something that’s good enough to open with friends, but not so precious you wouldn’t pour a glass while making dinner on a Tuesday. I’ll be interviewing friends in the wine business, wine shops, sommeliers and wine writers to get their recommendations. All the best bottles will be posted here and on my Instagram feed: Smart In The Kitchen. Think of it as a weeknight wine pick to help get you through all the meal planning I’m throwing at you.
My first pick is perfect for Spring. It happens to be from Pedras Wine Company, which is owned in part by our friends Cecilia and Wil Harris. I know I’m biased, but I couldn’t help but share because a) I’m a sucker for Provence-style rosé b) it’s newsworthy because it’s their first release of rosé and c) it’s darn good! Pedras has been making some serious Cabernet Sauvignon for years, but this low alcohol rosé is in its honeymoon phase. Take my word for it. Go ahead and pour some crisp and refreshing pink stuff — it’s just what you need with a big ‘ol cheese board and the Masters highlights on repeat all weekend.
$25 per bottle; order from Ma(i)sonry in Yountville or through Pedras Wine Company.

Thank you for saying that! I am contemplating whether or not to continue it… but this just made me think it should “stay alive!”
