A Big Batch and Bubbly Winter Punch
Tis the season! Invite friends over and make a pitcher of the easiest winter punch around. Big batch cocktails like sangria are your answer to stress-free entertaining. And this winter sangria couldn’t be faster to stir together when you’re in need of a party libation.
Winter sangria is dotted with dark jeweled fruit, sparkly Prosecco, warm cognac or brandy and tangy orange or tangerine slices. Cinnamon sticks and star anise add a fragrant winter spice. You can make it early in the day so it’s ready and waiting for your gathering.
What is Sangria?
A Spanish wine punch, sangria is traditionally made with red wine such as Rioja. While this version contains sparkling white wine, its red color comes from pomegranate juice.
How to Make Sangria Substitutions
Substitute any seasonal fruit: Apples for pears, clementines or satsumas for oranges, green grapes for red. If you don’t have Prosecco, use Cava or Champagne. Cranberry juice is a delicious sub for pomegranate juice.
Double or triple the recipe to serve a crowd. Serve it in pitchers or a punch bowl. Cheers! And Happy Holidays!
