Bubbles are always refreshing, especially when it’s prosecco instead of my usual La Croix. And with summer about to swing into full gear, this is one of those bottles that should be locked and loaded for out-of-town weekends and pre-dinner aperitifs. It’s also perfect in an Aperol spritz, and if you haven’t had one of those classic Italian aperitivos, I recommend you stir one up stat. And it’s easy to make: 3 parts prosecco, 2 parts Aperol and 1 part soda water (this is where the La Croix obsession really comes in handy). Serve it in a wine glass over ice with a sunny slice of orange on the rim. La dolce vita.
If you’re serving the prosecco on it’s own, it’s crisp and refreshing. Sold at Trader Joe’s for $9.99 a bottle, it’s also a steal. Prosecco Superiore refers to a region that covers the hills of Conegliano and Valdobbiadene in North Eastern Italy. Brut in style, a tall glass of this sparkling wine is not sweet in the least. In fact, there’s only 69 calories in a glass (according to the My Fitness Pal app that’s downloaded on my phone).
But who’s counting, Memorial Day weekend is almost here and it’s time to raise a glass to sunshine days, a looser schedule and a change in routine. Cin cin!
